More of the Newest Little Man

Here are just a few random photos from the last few weeks. Everett is getting so big! I am convinced that he is going to be bigger than Ivan pretty soon. He is starting to smile a lot and is awake much of the day. Mike can not get over how alert he is.

I am enjoying every minute with him (which might be why I do not post often) and dreading leaving him as I head back to work in 3-5 weeks.

Play Dates and Water Play

We have made every effort to keep Ivan entertained and to ensure that he is receiving plenty of attention now that he has to share the spot light. We were not quite sure how he would handle having the new guy around, but he is doing surprisingly well! He does whine for mommy every now and then and requests that I put the baby to bed so that I can hold him, but I have to admit that I kind of like it. I love being a mommy and I love that he still wants to spend time with me. I know some day that will all end, so I try to soak it up while I can. I LOVE my momma's boy!!!

As you can see, we did have a little help keeping Ivan entertained over the last few weeks. We had a few visits from Mallory and Mason who played with Ivan for hours. They all seemed to enjoy the water table and of course, Mason loved playing with any ball he could find! We are very thankful to both Mallory and Mason who have helped us wear Ivan out before bed time numerous times!

Our Shy Little Guy???

So, Ivan has always been very outgoing and friendly with everyone he meets. When we are in the store, he typically yells "hi" to everyone we pass and often asks what their name is. However, Ivan has been acting a bit shy lately. As visitors have arrived to visit baby Everett, Ivan has been extremely quiet and bash full. This usually only lasts for a few minutes and then the crazy switch gets turned on and he is his normal wild self again.

These pictures were taken when Aunt Carol, Becky, Ed and Kasey came to visit. Ivan had just woke up from his nap and was not quite sure what to think of the "strangers" in our house. It probably didn't help that daddy combed his hair like this either :)

More of Baby Everett

His first bath, as you can see he did not find it enjoyable!

Here are a few more photos of our newest bundle of joy. We took all of these photos when he was less than a week old. So far, he is a very good baby! The first week home with him, I felt bored. He just ate and slept all day and I was not used to that after chasing around a wild man! Now, he seems to have some issues with gas, which makes him a little needy, but he is still a very good baby. He wakes up a few times at night to be nursed, but goes right back to sleep. Ivan is also doing very well with the baby. He loves to give the baby hugs and kisses and is always checking on the baby. He does miss his mommy time, but I think he is adjusting very well. We just need to make sure he has more alone time in the future! Having two little ones can be a bit challenging and overwhelming at times, but we could not be happier and both feel very blessed to have two amazing little boys!

Seady. . .Ret. . .GO!

Today, Ivan practiced jumping while his little brother slept. First, he tried jumping over a sheep. Then, a horse. Soon, a cow joined in the fun. An elephant even came to the party, briefly. He would hop over one, add another for a little bigger jump and keep adding animals to create a bigger challenge. Often, he would annouce his intenttion to get started with a big "Seady. . .Ret. . GO!!!"

We are happy that Ivan has been able to enjoy some extra time home with his growing family. He has been great with his little brother. At times, he needs reminded that he is a giant, to tiny Everett and must be extra gentle. But we can tell that he loves him and that the two boys will share a special bond, as brothers.

At birth he was 7lbs 6oz and 20 in. in length. We'll cal him Everett. Well, Ivan still has his preference in a name, but we plan to change his mind.

Delivery, for us, started last Monday with a false alarm test run. The real deal started this morning at about 02:30. A couple of showers followed by timing and tracking, while assembling a puzzle, led to a trip to the hospital. Once at the hospital, a second hour of walking followed the first hour, while the doc finished up his race for the cure. Lunch was cut short to get down to business.

Lori did a fantastic job, despite some complications and associated pain and dscomfort.. Three pushes, wait for the doc to catch up to us, then one more contraction and some pushing ended at 2 minutes after one. This time she got to have baby in her arms, without delay.

We snapped a few pictures and shared our new bundle with family. We are so happy that he has finally arrived.
